Mission Statement

The Malta Health Students’ Association is a senate recognized students’ association within the University of Malta. Christian Ellul and Clinton Schembri Frankalanza, two students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, were the co-founders of the association.

The organisation’s main goal for the year is to further promote the work being done and to continue to match the milestones reached in the years prior. We will continue to promote public health to both University students and to the general public, shed light on diseases through our various campaigns and awareness days, and most importantly, be at the forefront to help students during their time at university.

The main themes and topics MHSA aims to highlight through events, campaigns and research are the following:

  • Taboo Subjects as it is imperative that people speak out more and break the stigma surrounding various topics which are often left shut down or considered as shameful.

  • Obesity and Physical Health, as Malta has one of the highest global obesity rates. Therefore, it is important to empower people to change unhealthy habits in their lifestyle and to aid communities with such knowledge, all in accordance with new theory and evidence.

  • The Environment and our health. Our external environment plays a huge role on both our mental and physical health, whether it be stress or pollution, all external factors affect us. On the other hand, positive environmental factors contribute to better overall health and wellbeing.
