Subcommittee

The goals of the Subcommittee team is to help out and participate in any events, campaigns, research or any other projects called for by the executive board and coordinators. Such projects are voluntary and applied for based on interest. Project teams are also offered to subcommittee members. Points are awarded to said members according to the events they attend and the tasks one does throughout the year, whereby rewards will be handed out to those that are most active. This system is being implemented to encourage you to attend and help out in events too! MHSA is making sure that it opens its doors to all FHS students and builds upon the great work that has been done in the past. Being part of the subcommittee is not a full-time job. The majority of the work is fun and interactive. Whatever your preferred area, MHSA has a role designed for you.

Several types of events are held throughout the year. Health related events include various activities such as Health Checks. These events include the organisation setting up at any given location and providing general health checks such as blood glucose, body mass index and blood pressure to the general public. The Health Office also provides opportunities such as internships and health related activities with the main aim of providing and promoting health awareness to the public.

MHSA also hosts a number of Leisure events, so that all of our members can have fun and balance out the hectic life at University, while also ensuring that no student finishes their course feeling like they missed out. From open bars to quiz nights, MHSA will most definitely have a weekend or two sorted out for you.

Education related events are usually catered for different courses, where topics related to health care are performed in the form of a talk or a workshop. The main aim for educational events are to promote health to FHS students. Educational events may also be multiple in nature and take the form of a prolonged campaign

Once you’ve chosen a course in the Health Sciences field, the chances are that you’re passionate about healthcare issues both locally and abroad. Our Social Policy Officer will  focus on highlighting these issues and bring them to the forefront of the national agenda. The Social Policy Officer works both within the University, and also on a national scale, with the aim of improving the Health Sector in Malta. The subcommittee can assist the officer with research and publication of policy papers.

Our yearly international trip is not a one man show. It takes a strong team to organise the trip and events such as our Research Expo. If you have a passion for International Affairs this may be the project team for you!
