MHSA's Annual General Meeting

The AGM is the highest body within the Association during which the outgoing Executive Board presents the work achieved during their term. FHS students have the opportunity to review the work of the Association and vote accordingly.

The agenda for the AGM follows clause 4.5 of the Association's statute, which reads:

4.5. The agenda of the AGM will consist of the following:
4.5.1. Appointment of Chairperson.
4.5.2. Approval of the minutes.
4.5.3. Matters arising.
4.5.4. Reading of the Faculty Student Representative’s / Representatives’ report.
4.5.5. Reading and approval of the MHSA Executive members report.
4.5.6. Reading and approval of the Human Resources Officer’s report.
4.5.7. Reading and approval of the Financial report, delivered by the Outgoing Treasurer of the organisation
4.5.8. Reading and approval of the Secretary General’s report.
4.5.9. Reading and approval of Vice-President’s report.
4.5.10. Reading and approval of the President’s report.
4.5.11. Appointment of the Auditor.
4.5.12. Appointment of the Advocate.
4.5.13. Appointment of the Committee for Executive Review.
4.5.14. Vote on motions brought forward to the GM and amendments to the statute.
4.5.15. Appointment of electoral commissioner when the nominations received exceeds the number of posts available to form the new EB. If an election is not required, the new board members are approved. If an election is required the AGM follows Article 5.

Delegates interested in contesting for the MHSA Executive Board are invited to fill a nomination form, which should be signed by the nominee, a proponent, and secondant. This can be accessed through the MHSA website (https://static1.squarespace.com/.../MHSA+Nomination+Form.pdf).

The proponent must be a delegate of MHSA and the secondant must be an MHSA Executive Board member. This year the AGM will take place online, therefore, all nomination forms must be sent to the Chairperson by email during the AGM.

All students are invited to the AGM however only MHSA members are allowed to vote. Those wishing to attend should fill in the google form below, whereby a zoom link will be sent to you in due course (https://forms.gle/PHdJkkqE8zXnb79T6).

Current board members and three panelists will also be sharing their experience as members within an organisation and also possibly passing on some views that, together with your ideas would allow MHSA to make a mark on the students in our faculty, and even the public.

Share your Gift - The Charity Talent Show

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us. A time of family, love, laughter, and giving.

MHSA, S-Cubed, and UM Futsal have teamed up to offer you a platform to 'Share Your Gift' by hosting a talent show for students and student organisations at the University of Malta.

We are inviting you to put together an act of talent (whether singing, dancing, puppetry, or anything else under the sun) to share with our university cohort, all in good spirits.

We would like to emphasise that we are looking for participation over the best voices or dance moves! The event is all about having fun, so anyone is welcome to apply.

These acts will be pre recorded, and edited together to be streamed on the 18th December, 2020. Besides this, we will be opening a donation link on the streaming night to donate to Step Up For Parkinsons , in this time of sharing and giving.

The Christmas season is finally upon us and we would love to celebrate it again with you on campus .

The festive season has brought about one of the most anticipated events of the year - Christmas on Campus, organised by KSU - Kunsill Studenti Universitarji. MHSA will be present on Quad were we shall have various activities and games, competitions, and of course Mulled Wine available to purchase.

This event shall take place on Friday 11th December, commencing at 10:00 - 13:00. Any proceedings made, shall be donated to The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation and Dar Tal-Providenza Siggiewi .

So make sure to come and join us and encourage your friends to tag along! Don’t forget to bring your own reusable cups, we care for the environment too.

As MHSA, we will be present at the Faculty of Health Sciences in order to provide you with useful information about your course including: timetable resources, helping with lecture room locations, enrollment as a member of our organisation, joining our subcommittee, important dates and talks to attend, and answering all of your burning freshers' questions.

MHSA's Research Expo

Following last years success, MHSA’s Research Expo is yet to happen once again. Through this event, students are given the opportunity to further delve into the world of research carried out by Faculty of Health Sciences students, and win the chance to present their research (this time, virtually) at the 2021 edition of International Conference for Health And Medical Students (ICHAMS) in February.
Participants will present their dissertation research in a poster presentation format to both the general attendees as well as an esteemed panel of judges who will be critiquing the research presented and selecting our winners. Prizes are yet to be announced so stay tuned.
If you're interested in presenting your research and getting in the chance of taking it up (virtually) to an international level, join in MHSA’s Research Expo by filling in the online form below.

MHSA is collaborating with MMSA and the Infection Control Unit for an influenza vaccination drive.

Students will be visiting the wards and administering the vaccination to staff and patients. All students will be supervised.

This is open to nursing, mental health nursing, and midwifery students who have completed their first year of studies (2nd years and up).

MHSA is inviting students within FHS for an influenza vaccination workshop and drive, together with MMSA and the Infection Control Unit at Mater Dei.

The workshop will provide students with the necessary information and an opportunity to administer the Influenza Vaccination to other students (therefore those present will be receiving the vaccination). 

For the drive, the students will be going to parts of Mater Dei Hospital to administer the vaccination to staff and patientsThe student must be supervised when administering the vaccination.

This will be open to nursingmental health nursing, and midwifery students who have completed their first year of studies (2nd years and up). Applications are on a first come first serve basis.

MHSA would like to invite volunteers to participate in our Environment Day on the 3rd of September.

We will be meeting in Ghadira bay at 9am to clean-up the beach as well as volunteer with the turtle nest  . Gloves and garbage bags will be provided.

MHSA will strictly abide to social distancing measures as well as other Covid-19 regulations which are currently in place. We also encourage everyone attending to bring with them and wear a mask or a visor at all times. Please do not attend this event if you are feeling sick or are showing symptoms of Covid-19, have been in contact with someone that resulted positive or have just returned from abroad.

Blood donations are greatly needed throughout the year, but especially during these times. Join MHSA in donating blood to celebrate World Blood Donor Day .
