MHSA launches ‘Let’s Talk Safety’ Campaign

MHSA is proud to announce the launch of the educational campaign, ‘Let’s Talk Safety’. The vision of this campaign is to increase awareness amongst our students on the importance of safety both within and outside the workplace. It is essential for our future healthcare professionals to truly understand the risks that may arise if one is not careful when dealing with hygiene, equipment, medication and most of all, our patients.

As healthcare professionals, our patients are our number one priority and we must take all the necessary precautionary measures when assessing and treating them. In saying this, MHSA has prepared various workshops and talks associated with hospital safety, that will be offered throughout the scholastic year. Topics such as infection control and patient handling skills are ones which will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

‘Let’s Talk Safety’, not only focuses on hospital safety, but also touches upon personal safety. Integrating individual safety in this campaign, raises awareness to those who may not be so well-informed. It aims to educate students on safety measures and the actions to take if undesirable situations arise. Related topics will be discussed over the course of this year, with the first two workshops being tackled in December during the Ward Round: The MHSA Annual Live-in.

As a student organisation, MHSA encourages the students of the Faculty of Health Sciences to apply for these workshops and talks being offered. Whether the topic has been covered in the syllabus or not, it will still be beneficial to attend and brush up on what you have learned.

MHSA Launches Brand New Website

After the old MHSA website was deemed no longer able to serve its purpose, the current MHSA Executive Board, particularly Public Relations Officer Joseph Xuereb together with President Edward DeGabriele, began working towards a new, functional and interactive website that would show all prospective and current FHS students what MHSA is, and more importantly, what it can do for students. On Wednesday 19th September, the website went live after months of preparation. The website will be constantly updated with the latest news and upcoming MHSA events.
